Rosa ‘Oscar Peterson’

Oscar Peterson

Oscar Peterson was born on August 15, 1925 in Montreal, Quebec. Playing Piano from a young age, he grew to become one of the foremost jazz musicians of his time. His 65 year career is highlighted by performances and recordings with many Jazz greats, as well as over 300 compositions. His work has been well recognized, achieving many awards and honours, among which are 8 Grammy Awards and the Governor General’s Performing Arts Award for Lifetime Achievement. Oscar Peterson passed away on December 23, 2007, but his musical legacy lives on. The Oscar Peterson Rose is another rose released as part of the Canadian Artists Series. Similar to the person Oscar Peterson, this rose is very special. The rose is upright in habit with clean glossy foliage. The large semi-double flowers are cream coloured in bud, opening to a pure white with a centre of yellow stamens. A very good repeat bloomer and exceptionally disease resistant. This rose, like the rest of the roses in this series, is certain to become a popular addition to many Canadian gardens and landscapes due to its outstanding beauty and cold hardiness (Zone 3)...
