A shade tree is any tree grown specifically for its shade. This term usually applies to large trees with spreading canopies. Shade trees are effective in reducing the energy used in cooling homes. We grow a wide variety of large and small shade trees including lilac, maple, ash, linden and elm.
The summer months at Bakker Nurseries are some of the busiest months of the year, as we use this time for budding our trees onto our own root stock grown here at the nursery. Our top selling shade trees varieties are currently Ivory Silk Japanese Tree Lilac and Linden.
